Which type of loft conversion is right for your home?

When it comes to loft conversions, there are lots of different options to consider. Every home is different and unique, which is why one type of attic conversion doesn’t suit all. There are six main loft extension types and the type your architect recommends will depend on the style of your property, roof height, available space, planning regulations, budget and your requirements.

There are five primary categories of loft conversion which include roof light/Velux conversions, dormer conversions, hip-to-gable conversions, mansard loft conversions, and L-shaped. Determining the ideal type of loft conversion for your house relies on factors such as the height and shape of your roof, whether your home is detached, semi-detached or terraced, your financial constraints, and any relevant local planning regulations or specifications.

How we work

At The Loft Room, we recognise how intrusive building work can be and how it can unbalance your home, life and family for that short period. One of our top priorities is to make sure your experience with us is as pain-free and unintrusive as possible.

We also appreciate that sometimes projects need to evolve once they are underway, which is why we are flexible when the project needs to adapt and will always go one step further to ensure those finer design points — as well as any major build challenges — are thought through carefully and receive the attention they need.
