Why did you decide to get a loft conversion?
I bought the property as a one-bedroom maisonette precisely because it had scope to extend, so a loft conversion was always on the cards. I wanted both to add value to my investment and to give me more room in an area where I couldn’t have afforded a larger property at the time.
How many other quotes did you get before going with The Loft Room?
I got three quotes in total, one from The Loft Room.
Why did you choose The Loft Room in the end?
It was Paul who came to quote and I immediately felt confident and comfortable with him. I remember he called me to say he might be a few minutes late due to traffic, and then when he arrived – only about 3 minutes late – he took his shoes off in my house without me asking. These two small gestures immediately made me feel Paul would be the kind of person I wanted to work with; someone who would respect my property and be a good communicator.
Also, The Loft Room had been referred to me by a friend who gave the team a rave review so when the quote came in as competitive it was a very easy choice to make.
What do you think of The Loft Room’s customer service?
Outstanding! It took me the better part of a year to sort out all the planning permission and Paul was contactable and helpful throughout, even before we got started in the build. Andrei and Stefan, who were on-site every day, worked like Trojans and were always neat, clean and respectful of my property – and just nice guys to have around.
How did you find the loft conversion experience as a whole?
I’ve heard lots of people complain about how stressful building projects are but I honestly found the whole thing a lot easier than I had anticipated. I knew exactly what was going on, and what everything was costing, every step of the way, and Paul, Andrei and Stefan were lovely to work with. And they finished a week ahead of schedule and exactly on budget!
How do you feel about your new loft conversion?
I love it! It has transformed my property, adding a second bedroom and bathroom and substantial value – if recent estate agency valuations are to be believed. It has also removed the urgency to find a bigger property straight away as I have room to live in this one for a little while longer.
Do you think The Loft Room fulfilled your loft’s greatest potential?
Yes.
Would you recommend The Loft Room to a friend, family member or neighbour?
I already have, several times. And I would definitely use them again if I find myself in need of a loft conversion in my next property – which I am already looking for.
Of all the trades working on your loft conversion, which was your favourite to work with? E.g carpenters, plumbers or electricians.
They were all good.
Do you feel confident you could contact The Loft Room again in the future for any reason to do with your loft conversion?
I had a few minor teething problems soon after the conversion was finished and I contacted Paul who sorted things out without question and very quickly.
