The journey
Why did you decide to get a loft conversion?
We brought the house 3 years prior due to it clearly lending itself to be converted without the need for the stairs to interfere with any of the existing double rooms. When the time was right, we went for it.
How many other quotes did you get before going with The Loft Room?
We had 3 quotes in total.
Why did you choose The Loft Room in the end?
Paul was the second to visit and was by far the most knowledgeable. This was new to us and he explained everything well without the feeling of being forced in any direction. It’s hard to exactly articulate, we / I just got a very good feeling.
What do you think of The Loft Room’s customer service?
Excellent. A caring team, all very friendly who genuinely care about your loft just about as much as you do. In fact, Paul at the end I think cared more than I did as his OCD would not allow for a slightly untidy edge to pass. This was put right within a few hours.
How did you find the loft conversion experience as a whole?
Perfect. Surprising. Enjoyable. Perfect as everything ran as I was told it would. Nothing we were told or that we read in their reviews was inflated or false. Surprising as I was sceptical about the building trade and whilst it probably speaks more about me then about builders, I was always waiting to be disappointed. That day did not come. Enjoyable, which is surprising as for 7 weeks we had builders and skips etc, but it was a great experience and I really enjoyed the process and being a part of the process.
How do you feel about your new loft conversion?
A picture paints a thousand words and for anyone looking at ours, I think they would agree it’s a great space. After two months living in, it still feels like a hotel room. I also like the memory of coming up and talking through and making decisions with the Loft Room team. Whilst my soft hands remained soft, I am left with a sense of involvement in the process. Therefore, a feeling of pride in the end result.
Do you think The Loft Room fulfilled your loft’s greatest potential?
Absolutely. Whilst the decision was of course ours, without Rich’s top tips, something I think he refers to as the ‘Loft Rooms touch’ the end result wouldn’t be as amazing as it is.
Would you recommend The Loft Room to a friend, family member or neighbour?
We already have. If we were to move tomorrow and needed a conversion, the Loft Room would be our only call and we would happily wait for their availability.
Of all the trades working on your loft conversion, which was your favourite to work with? E.g. the carpenters, plumbers or electricians.
Tough question and without offending anyone, I would say the Carpenters. We have a young daughter and whilst noise is unavoidable, the respect and care they took to accommodate her naps was above and beyond. He even built us a temporary stair gate when the new stairs was fitted. On the job though, nothing was a problem and all my questions explained. No change or request was too much.
Do you feel confident you could contact The Loft Room again in the future for any reason to do with your loft conversion?
Yes, absolutely.

I am very happy to write this review and would not give a 5* review for anything lightly. We had three quotes; however, Paul’s knowledge and approach separated The Loft Room from the rest and their proposal was clear and concise. Any questions were quickly answered.
The entire process is exactly as I read it would be. In fact, it surpassed my expectations, which is a genuine surprise. Every single one of the team, from the back office to the mastic man at the very end was a pleasure to meet and have in our home. Vio lead with my build and I genuinely looked forward to meeting with him to discuss the progression and plan the next phases. My daughter, 2 years old, would insist on seeing him before she would start her day. She still asks where he is. For anyone else with small children, of course, there will be noise, but myself and wife were very pleased with how respectful the team were to nap time and the fact that there was a little one in the house.
A worry for me was the fact that I’ve not built a loft before so worried about making wrong choices through lack of experience. Rich was super helpful and came with everything I lacked, which has transformed our space from bulk standard to something really cool. On the few (many) occasions I changed my mind, had a question or asked for a change, never once was this a problem. The team has the genuine desire to build you a space that you are happy with, and they work very hard to achieve that. I’m sure I was a pain, but I was never made to feel like one.
I’m a particular person, however everything in our space is perfect. Whilst I’m pleased to have the scaffolding down, I will miss having the guys around. 101 coffee pods and one bag of sugar later, we have an amazing loft, finished to the highest standard. Zero hidden costs or surprises. If we moved tomorrow and needed a loft, The Loft Room would be our only call.
To the entire team, thank you for your integrity, professionalism, timekeeping, flexibility, hard work and for putting up with my changes. With the upmost appreciation, the Gilchrists.
