What is a Piggyback Loft Conversion?

A Piggyback Loft Conversion removes all of the existing roof and raises the perimeter walls approximately 1.3m. When the new pitched roof is built on top of the newly raised perimeter walls it creates much more head height and ultimately a more practical living space.

Benefits of a Piggyback Loft Conversion

The benefits of having a Piggyback conversion is that you gain significant head height to the slope of the roof. This ultimately achieves more walkable space without having to add a Dormer Conversion.

Will you need planning permission?

A Piggyback Conversion will always require Planning Permission before works can commence. This is due to the ridge being raised and this does not fall within the guidelines of a Certificate of Lawfulness Guidelines. Here at The Loft Room we will submit the Planning Applications for our clients.
